You will receive a red and white medical assistance card in the mail within 14 days of enrolling. Do not throw away this card. Even if you haven’t received your card yet, you can still get medical services.

Choose a managed care organization (MCO)

Your managed care organization (MCO) provides your care. Each member of the household may enroll in a different MCO.

If you need to submit documents to verify your application for Medicaid, don’t wait. Your enrollment in the MCO will not be effective until you have submitted all verification documents.

Extended Coverage After Pregnancy

Medicaid coverage will last for 12 months after pregnancy.

Non-citizen Pregnant Marylanders

Coverage starts on the last day of pregnancy and ends on the last day of the 12th month. At the end of the 12th month, you may be able to renew your Medicaid coverage. Need help? How do I renew Medicaid?

If you or a member of your family are enrolled in Medicaid, the Maryland Children’s Health Program (MCHP) or MCHP Premium, you will reapply for coverage at the end of each certification period. For most people, that’s every 12 months.

If you received a letter to reapply for Medicaid or if you think it’s time for you to do so, here are ways to renew your coverage:

There are different renewal instructions for people who are 65 or older and who aren’t a parent or caretaker relative of a minor child, or for people who are blind, disabled, living in a nursing facility or are a current foster child.

Keep your account up to date

Make changes to your account any time there are changes in your life—including pregnancy, change of address, or change in job status. You may lose benefits if your account is not up to date.
